Mary Spencer is a lifelong Kansas City resident. Mary received her undergraduate degree from UMKC and her Master's in Teaching from Webster University in Kansas City. She and her husband have been Brookside residents for over 30 years where they raised 2 daughters and 1 son. After being home with her own children for many years, Mary returned to teaching in the KCMO School District at Swinney Elementary where she taught 1st and 3rd grades. During that time she attended the "Writing Project" at Columbia University Teacher's College, in New York. She loves reading and travel and is very excited to join the Académie Lafayette staff and work with the Kindergarten students.
