Enrollment Guidelines and Application Date Information for the Kindergarten Class beginning in Fall 2012

The Open Application dates for the 2012-13 school year begin January 17, 2012* at 8:00 a.m. and end on February 21, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Applications may be picked up at both campuses (6903 Oak Street, and 406 W. 74th Street). This process gives every student who applies during this time period the same opportunity. There is no advantage to turning in your application on the first day vs. the last day of the Open Application dates.

Kindergarten applicants must be five (5) years old BEFORE September 1, 2012 to start kindergarten in August 2012.

Children MUST live within the boundaries of the Kansas City Missouri School District, and parents/guardians will be asked to show proof of residency in the application. Académie Lafayette cannot accept tuition or make other exceptions for students who live outside the KCPS district boundaries.

Académie Lafayette will accept 120 kindergarten students for the 2012-13 school year. This total includes siblings and teachers’ children.

At the end of Open Application period, we will do one of two things:

If we have received more applications than available space, all names will be put into a lottery and we will draw for the 2012-2013 kindergarten class on February 24, 2012. The lottery will determine both who is accepted, and the order of the waiting list for the remaining students.

If we have received fewer applications than space available, all applications will be accepted and the remaining spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis until full.

Letters will be mailed to all applicants on or before March 2, 2012. Any application received after Open Application period will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, or put on the waiting list in the order received.
Siblings of current Académie Lafayette students and children of Académie Lafayette teachers will have priority over other applicants, as outlined in our original charter. However, these students must enroll during the Open Application period from January 17, 2012 - February 21, 2012.
