FROM THE DESK OF ERIC NELIS
Today I am writing few words to say goodbye to Rachael Gordon who is leaving Academie Lafayette today. Rachael has been the force behind many successes at Academie Lafayette for the past two and half years. The list of everything she has done for the school is quite long, from fundraising and organizing events, to all the challenging aspects of communication with stakeholders.
Most of all, I will remember Rachael as a dedicated, quiet professional who gets things done. Not only done, but done quickly, and impeccably. These kinds of people are rare, these no-nonsense people who are trustworthy, speak a little, and do a lot.
I am honored to have worked with Rachael, and I cannot thank her enough for her support to Academie Lafayette. We all wish her the very best for her future!
CHESS CLUB NEWS
We will resume regular Wednesday meetings at 4:00pm in room 102 after the Thanksgiving break. This week we talked about how to make a journal of your game by writing the spaces and pieces down as you play. Our wonderful volunteer coach Mr.Sidorenkov has many ideas on how to further your skills in the game.
Come when you can.

UNIFORM POLICY
Parents, please be conscious of what your children are wearing! Due to the colder weather , we now have to wear warmer clothing. We want to remind you that you need to adhere to our uniform policy. ( for more details, check your student's school agenda, or go to the school website)
Sweatshirts that do not match the uniform policy will be taken to the office and students will be responsible to pick up their non-uniform clothing at the end of the day.
Parents, please be conscious of what your children are wearing in terms of their sweater and sweat-shirts.
It must meet the uniform policy, which can be found in your school handbook.
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend.

BABY SITTING CIRCLE WITH FRENCH PIZZAZZ
Will you need a baby sitter for that special evening? Why not add some French pizzazz?
As the end of the year celebrations are coming up (fast), many parents will need some kind of child supervision at some point.
Our Interns are ready to help out with your baby-sitting needs. With some coordination, this can easily become a win/win/win situation !
To facilitate communication when looking for a baby sitter, please send an email to Mr. Roskam (eroskam.lafayette@gmail.com) with the basic information : When do you need a baby-sitter, house-sitter? What time to what time? Would you rather have a male/female baby-sitter? Home address? Phone?
I will share your needs with our interns & make arrangements so that they all have an equitable chance to participate in these events.
Within 24 hours after sending your information, you will be contacted by one of our interns to finalize the plan.
We are hoping this opportunity will take a load ofF your busy schedules and facilitate our Interns' integration into the community.
Cordialement, Eric Roskam

Your Brain Needs Zzzzzs!
Most kids between 5 and 12 years old get about 9.5 hours a night, but experts agree that most need 10 or 11, or even 12 hours each night. Sleep is an individual thing and some kids need more than others.
There are many reasons to get enough sleep: improved concentration, better mood and increased energy will all help your child succeed in school. Also, plenty of sleep supports good growth and a healthy immune system.
Does your Child know the Bus Rules?
Please review the following rules with your child, especially if he or she regularly rides the bus. These rules are essential for the safety of everyone on board the bus.

2. Do not stand while bus is moving
3. Respect the driver, when instructions are given from the driver, they need to follow instructions.
4. Never return to the bus to get anything left behind when they are dropped off at their stop.
5. Always stop and look at the driver for a hand signal before crossing street.
6. NO FOOD OR DRINKS ON THE BUS

8. Never approach the bus until it stops.
